Aftercare.
Fresh ink is a wound. Look after it and it heals clean — the line stays sharp, the colour stays true. Here’s exactly what I want you to do.
Wash your tattoo with a gentle, unscented soap and warm water — an unscented baby soap is perfect. Let the water run gently over it to lift away any dirt, ink and body fluid, and rinse off every last trace of soap. Pat it dry with clean kitchen paper. Repeat two or three times a day for the first two days.
Wash the tattoo well one more time, then apply the Dermalize film I gave you at the studio. Leave it on for four to five days, unless I tell you otherwise. If your skin reacts to the film, take it off sooner and message me straight away.
Remove the Dermalize and wash the tattoo again with soap and warm water. Then moisturise with the aftercare cream I gave or recommended at the studio — three or four times a day to begin with, then three, then two, then once a day. Use a small amount each time and spread it thin: no thick layers, no white patches. Keep going until it’s fully healed, around 25–30 days.
No exercise while it heals — at least the first fifteen days. Keep it out of pools, the sea and long soaks in the bath until it’s closed over.
Any doubt, a photo, a question — write to me. I’d always rather hear from you early.
